How to properly inspect your exterior paint project:
- Your project should be inspected in normal lighting conditions.
- Start on one side and work your way around the home.
- Stand at a normal distance away from the surface being inspected (5-10 feet).
- Check for any holes, paint runs, missed coverage or uneven coverage.
- Some ladders required to complete your project are very heavy and take multiple trained carpenters to manipulate. Ladders must be properly placed for safety purposes. Minor damage may be incurred to landscaping.
- A lot of times we use clear caulking to seal up the project and from a distance it might not look caulked. Look for a difference in sheen at your joints or you will be able to feel the texture difference from caulking to substrate (ask the carpenter if the caulking is dry enough to touch before doing so).
- If Masonite siding was replaced on your home the board above the one, we replaced might have incurred some damage to where the nails heads were. It is common for the board to be soft where the nail is due to water penetration and the carpenters should caulk these areas.
Care Instructions for your new paint project.
- Do not wash for 30 days to allow for the paint and caulk to fully set, if painted.
- Do not use degreaser or harsh chemicals. Only use solutions recommended by a professional.
- Refer to the manufacturer’s care instructions for additional information.
- Make sure gutters are cleaned and your home is washed at least annually and keep all vegetation off the home to prevent water damage.
Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you!
